50 Taka Price Increase for .COM
We regret to inform that we have no other way but to increase the price of .COM domain name (new registration, renewal, and transfer) to 850 taka due to the rising price of US$ in Bangladesh, effective today. Prices of all other TLDs such as .NET, .ORG, .ME, .INFO, etc. will remain the same until further notice.
Domain Name Transfer to Trance Host
To transfer a domain from your current registrar to Trance Host, a few steps are necessary. First, you will need to contact your current registrar to both obtain the EPP authorization key and ensure the domain is currently unlocked. Secondly, you can submit payment for the domain transfer by signing up at http://domains.trancehost.com. The transfer fee will add a year of registration to the current domain, and thus simply acts as an early renewal. When processing the transfer, you will be asked to input your EPP authorisation key.
Please understand that a domain transfer can take anywhere from 1 to 7 days. During this time, a verification e-mail will be sent to the registrant e-mail contact on the WHOIS information for the domain in question. This email must be verified and approved for the transfer to complete. Upon completion, the domain will be completely manageable via your Trance Host account.
To note, if the domain you wish to transfer is nearing expiration, the transfer must complete prior to the expiration date. If the expiration date is reached, the domain must be renewed at the current registrar and 60 days must pass before the domain can be transferred away. Unfortunately, this is a requirement for all domains in general, and is not a restriction provisioned by Trance Host.

Domain Name Status Codes
Various domain status codes and brief description from RFC 2832:
Status: ACTIVE
This is the default status of a domain at registration time. The registry sets the domain to this status. The domain is modifiable by the registrar. The domain can be renewed. The domain SHALL be included in the zone file when in this status if the domain has at least one associated name server.
Status: REGISTRY-LOCK
The registry sets the domain to this status. The domain cannot be modified or deleted by the registrar. The registry MUST remove the REGISTRY-LOCK status for the registrar to modify the domain. The domain can be renewed. The domain SHALL be included in the zone file when in this status if the domain has at least one associated name server.
Status: REGISTRY-HOLD
The registry sets the domain to this status. The domain cannot be modified or deleted by the registrar. The registry MUST remove the REGISTRY-HOLD status for the registrar to modify the domain. The domain can be renewed. The domain SHALL NOT be included in the zone file when in this status.
Status: REGISTRAR-HOLD
The registrar of the domain sets the domain to this status. The domain can not be modified or deleted when in this status. The registrar MUST remove REGISTRAR-HOLD status to modify the domain. The domain can be renewed. The domain SHALL NOT be included in the zone file when in this status.
Status: REGISTRAR-LOCK
The registrar of the domain sets the domain to this status. The domain cannot be modified or deleted when in this status. The registrar MUST remove REGISTRAR-LOCK status to modify the domain. The domain can be renewed. The domain SHALL be included in the zone file when in this status.
Status: REGISTRY-DELETE-NOTIFY
A domain is set on this status if it has expired and has child name servers that are hosting other domains. Only the registry may set this status. The domain SHALL be included in the zone file when in this status if the domain has at least one associated name server.
The domain deletion progresses through the following statuses:
Status: REDEMPTIONPERIOD
A domain name is placed in REDEMPTIONPERIOD status when a registrar requests the deletion of a name that is not within the Add Grace Period. A name that is in REDEMPTIONPERIOD status will not be included in the zone file. A registrar can not modify or purge a name in REDEMPTIONPERIOD status. The only action a registrar can take on a name in REDEMPTIONPERIOD is to request that it be restored. Any other registrar requests to modify or otherwise update the domain will be rejected. Unless restored, the domain will be held in REDEMPTIONPERIOD status for a specified number of calendar days. The current length of this Redemption Period is thirty calendar days.
Status: PENDINGDELETE
A domain name is placed in PENDINGDELETE status if it has not been restored during the Redemption Period. A name that is in PENDINGDELETE status will not be included in the zone file. All registrar requests to modify or otherwise update a domain in PENDINGDELETE status will be rejected. A domain name is purged from the registry database a specified number of calendar days after it is placed in PENDINGDELETE status. The current length of this Pending Delete Period is five calendar days.
Status: PENDINGRESTORE
A domain name is placed in PENDINGRESTORE status when a registrar requests restoration of a domain that is in REDEMPTIONPERIOD status. A name that is in PENDINGRESTORE status will be included in the zone file. Registrar requests to modify or otherwise update a domain in REDEMPTIONPERIOD status will be rejected. A domain name is returned to REDEMPTIONPERIOD status a specified number of calendar days after it is placed in PENDINGRESTORE unless the registrar submits a complete Registrar Restore Report to the Registry Operator. The current length of this Pending Restore Period is seven calendar days.
FileZilla Setup Information
We have decided to completely upgrade our FTP services to *secure* FTP only -- more specifically FTPS (TLS Auth) and FTPES. Now this means that plain (clear) text FTP connections can no longer be made to your accounts.
The only tested and free FTP client we found for both Linux and Windows (XP, Vista) has been FileZilla (although FireFTP under Firefox is another free secure FTP client you could use). You can download and install FileZilla from here.
Linux flavours: Use your Linux distribution's Package Management System to install FileZilla. For Debian and Ubuntu you would type the following from a terminal: sudo apt-get install filezilla
Important FileZilla setup information:
Once you've installed FileZilla you need to setup a "New Site". Click on the "Site Manager" icon -- the icon under the File menu. That will open a new dialog window to allow you to setup a "New Site". Click on "New Site" and then enter in the Host (your domain name), the Port (21) and for Server Type select (FTPES - FTP over explicit TLS/SSL).
Then for Login Type (Normal) and then enter your cPanel Username and Password. You can leave the Account field blank.
Then click on "Connect" and you should now be connecting securely via FTPES to your account.

Domain Name Price Increase
Verisign, the top-level registry for .com and .net domain names, recently increased their prices by 7% and 10% respectively. In the past, we have always absorbed these price increases for our customers. With these latest price increases, after much discussion and deliberation, we have decided we must increase our prices as well in order to continue providing domain registration services to our customers.
Effective Thursday, July 15th, 2010, domain registrations and renewals will be increased to 800 Taka per year.
